Worship a Queer God is a portrait and documentary series exploring gender nonconformity and androgyny in queer individuals.
Worship a Queer God is an ongoing portrait and documentary series exploring gender nonconformity and androgyny in queer individuals, specifically evidenced by their own words, preferred pronouns, personal style, and aesthetic.
We, as a society, still have a very narrow idea of gender binaries (or lack thereof), and some of that restrictiveness extends into LGBTQ+ communities as well—namely with how fiercely we can cling to our labels and demand them of others. But our evolution as queer people, which is often a quicker and more advanced evolution than the heteronormative world that surrounds us, includes increased and oft-stated recognition of how limiting these labels are to some of us. And how so much of it ends up being a costume of expectations.
