pussy flower is a portrait collection and visual representation of sapphic love amongst Black queer women and femmes.

pussy flower is a collection of portraiture depicting intimacy, self-love, and seduction amongst Black lesbians and Black queer women & femmes. Shot entirely in nature and utilizing fruit and florals as metaphorical representations of the vagina, the intent of the series is to expand the archive of Black sapphic imagery in the LGBTQ+ canon.

As a Black queer woman, I hyperfocus on Black womanhood and queerness because I want others who look, live, and love like me to see themselves represented. I want to see myself represented. There is nothing comparable to the way Black women and femmes love on each other, be it platonic or romantic. That tenderness is reflected in the work as well as a nod to the erotic.
