Carnegie Museum of Art: Flow State

Carnegie Museum of Art's Third Thursday: Flow State (April 19, 2018), curated by music & nightlife collective girlFx, included a cast of artists who created site-specific performances/experiences in response to the work currently on-view in the museum.

Pictured in this album: Princess Jafar (performed a Hercules medley at the Cast of Porch of the Caryatid, and recited the opening monologue); Gia Fagnelli (movement and pole work performance in response to the symbology of the tombs featured in the Hall of Architecture); and Tara Fay feat. Shaquille Douglas (conceptual performance art—hair braiding—built around the idea of the performative nature of existing as a black woman in response to Deana Lawson’s photography in the Forum Gallery).
